Well, well, well. As the date of the concert drew closer we realized the free tickets may not come through so we made a decision to go regardless of the outcome, and we are glad we did!

Saturday started with me getting a 175$ speeding ticket before I ever left town (First speeding ticket of my life) so that wasn’t very fun, next up was a 1 hour+ wait to cross the border :p Once down to the venue we tried to find our motel which was 8 long miles away from the countryside White River Amphitheatre , we checked in, chugged some drinks on an empty stomach (We didn’t have time to eat) and jumped in one of 3-4 cabs in the entire region. On the way there we had to decide what to do: Go to the venue and see if Brandon had somehow managed to get our names to put us down for tickets, and if not, see if we could buy some decent tickets from the box office. Scalpers were stationed about 3 miles away for fear of arrest, they don’t take kindly to scalpers in front of the venue down there so I decided to check the venue first and have the cab waiting, will call didn’t have anything for us so I asked the box office what they had, it turns out they just had released PRIME SEATS, section 102, row 4, seats 1 and 2!! These are the tickets I had wanted all along, comfortable seats, near the front, way in front of the 1000's of people that had tickets for weeks/months!

So we made our way inside, thrilled beyond belief and caught most of Perfect Circle who were excellent! Then we managed to hook up with Shalini's very cool friends Aimee and Christina, who had come down with some of their friends, they were having a great time!! Next up was Incubus, Shalini and I are huge fans and they didn’t disappoint! At the end of Incubus, I spotted Jerod Leto; actor and mastermind behind the band 30 Seconds to Mars, Shalini of course had a crush on him since high school so I caught up to him and asked him when they would be hitting Vancouver, since I keep missed their performances, he said hopefully soon, and that they love the city. I had to embarrass my better half by telling him "This is my fiancé, she really loves you guys, actually she just LOVES YOU!!" to which he sheepishly said to her "oh hey :)", giving her lots of stuff to talk to her friends about this week I'm sure :p Nest up was the main reason I came down, AUDIOSLAVE featuring Chris Cornell on the vocals and the band from Rage Against the machine providing the musical assault. I can't even begin to describe how good they all were, but if you EVER get a chance to see them live, you must do it. Last up was Jane's addiction and I must say they really blew me away, I've always liked their music and seeing them rock out harder than ever, clean and sober was a treat, their new single kicks major ass and that was the highlight on the set.

Now the fun really started, we had to try and get back to our motel at 11pm, with a traffic jam surrounding us, in the middle of farm country (The neighboring farmers fertilize their fields at 10pm on show nights to protest the noise, filling the air with the smell of poop)

After standing around for an hour near the exit we asked this couple where they were going and it turns out the same motel as us, what are the odds, sadly they were screwed too so we started hatching a plan to find a ride to the nearby casino, we snuck onto an employee shuttle just to have it drop us off with 50 other people in a field doubling as employee parking lot! After a little begging the lovely woman driving told us she would drop us off at the casino after she went back to White river to see if anybody was left, with the traffic that took another hour or so but we finally made it to the Muckelshoot Casino. Having never been to Vegas (Until next week!), this was the biggest casino I had ever seen and we sat down with our new friends for a bite, the first food I had in 18 hours. Then we finally were able to call a cab and share it with the couple, getting back to our motel at 3am. We crashed soon after :) Had a great time, met some great Americans, great venue, one of my top two concerts I've ever seen!
